  Pete Cluckington is the story of a young chicken who is just starting the third grade at a brand new school on a brand new farm. He was born and raised on a chicken farm but is now living on a farm with a diverse animal population. His adjustment is hard because of his parents’ negative views of all of the other kinds of animals. However, deep in his heart, Pete wants to make friends with the other animals, but is torn between his own desire and honoring his parents’ feelings. Will Pete ever be able to make friends with the other animals? What will his parents think?

   We should all strive to raise our children to be individuals who love, respect, and accept the differences of others in our world. In order to do that, we must understand the power of our words and actions and the impact of those words and actions in shaping their young minds. Love is the greatest tool we can use to build a better world. We must not only give love to our own children, but we must also teach them how to show it to others.
